“I love you; we love you”
Shouted, whispered, declared fervently by those closest to us
“I love you because you make me better, you inspire me, you complete me”.
All expressions of love revealed in words, action and deed.
Yet in all the various expressions of love, we all experience a deep longing for more.
We come to the realisation of human frailty of love when exposed.
CS Lewis said, “God allows us to feel the frailty of human love, so we’ll appreciate the strength of His.”
Human love prerequisites trust to be earned, hurdles and conditions to be met before it is given. Despite this, we find that this is a temporary mask for a deep longing that will never be satisfied, unknowingly this often determines our self-worth.
Wanting to be loved, accepted, and valued, we seek to fill the void in our hearts with the wrong people, wrong things, and wrong places.
Ultimately, leaving a dark void of longing; like a woven basket wanting to be filled but being filled with water rather than something solid
Yet we are assured that when we fill our hearts with what God says about us, this will be an anchor for our self-worth, ensuring that no matter how we experience the frailty of human love, our soul will find rest in God and His love for us.
We are to stay steadfast in the assurance of the love of God, He loved us while we were yet sinners and had nothing to offer Him. He saw every dirty and nasty sin we could ever commit, and He said we were worth dying for.
So, let us fill our hearts with the knowledge that the void and longingness of our hearts can only be filled with God alone. We will be at peace and fulfilled knowing he loves us unconditionally and He will never let us down no matter what
GOD is love!
