GraceStation foundation in collaboration with Digital SchoolHouse (DSH), has successfully delivered a two-week summer camp program for twenty (20) beneficiaries between the ages of 10 and 15, in Primary 4 to JHS2 from the Nima community. The pilot program was aimed at building character, confidence and social skills while instilling in them essential life-long values, teamwork, and individual responsibilities.
Facilitators of the program used both theoretical and practical modes of teaching to ensure that the participants got the most out of the classes. Topics that were covered in the various sessions included communication, courtesy, resilience among many others including robotics using SCRATCH programming.
An Inspire Session was also introduced to inspire/ motivate the participants through the unique stories of the volunteer speakers (a film producer/ director and a media practitioner), to achieve their respective future ambitions.
Other activities also incorporated to ensure it was a fun learning experience for them included scavenger hunts, Kahoot! Online games, bead making, arts and crafts.
At the end of the two-week period, each participant was presented with a certificate of participation. They were entirely grateful to the foundation for the opportunity and the level of knowledge imparted.
