The 2023 GraceStation foundation Scholarship Scheme rolled out in the month of June. The scholarship scheme is an annual program that awards scholarships to needy but brilliant students in public universities. Various means of publicizing were used including GSf’s social media pages and the foundation’s website. This year, the call for applications received a total of seven hundred and ninety-nine (799) applications- the highest number the foundation has seen since the inception of the scholarship scheme in 2020. Five hundred and fifty-three (553) of this number were male applicants and two hundred and forty-seven (247) were female applicants. 

Majority of them stated that they were referred by friends, whereas others indicated that they heard of the scheme through the various social media platforms and website. Twenty-six (26) scholarship recipients from the previous year also applied for a renewal of scholarship this year. Notwithstanding, out of the 799 applications that were received, 181 met the scholarship criteria and 85 qualified to the second stage of assessment after screenings had been carried out. This number, however, was whittled down to 52 for a virtual interview. 

The scholarship process will come to an end in the month of October with qualifying applicants being awarded deserving scholarships for the next academic year.
