GraceStation beneficiaries at Ningo Prampram witnessed a remarkable transformation as voices united to break the silence surrounding mental health. Led by the dynamic team at GSf and supported by invaluable partners, the two-day Mental Health Awareness Program ignited a spark of change in the heart of our beneficiaries.
The attendees were mainly Persons with Disability (PWDs) who due to their condition are usually stigmatized in their community. They eagerly engaged in a riveting mental health talk led by experts from the Ghana Health Service. The conversations tackled topics from managing mood swings to navigating grief. With each question asked and story shared, barriers crumbled, paving the way for healing, and understanding.
One-on-one counseling sessions also took place and were a beacon of hope for the beneficiaries. Peer counseling on the hand, was encouraged and the beneficiaries shared and learnt from each other's experiences.
The beneficiaries were grateful for the opportunity, and they expressed how life changing the sessions had been to them and their mental health. Together, they have shattered stigma, embraced change, and forged a path towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
